MUSIC AS A SOCIAL SYSTEM
El Sistema is the strongest and most effective program of social inclusion and musical education ever invented in the world, initiated in 1975 in Venezuela by José Antonio Abreu, economist and musician, with the aim of offering children of his country another future through music. Thanks to El Sistema they were able to find benchmarks and some became actors or driving forces of the three hundred symphony orchestras for children and young people. More than 90 countries are currently developing El Sistema around the world.

EL SISTEMA OPÉRA MÉDITERRANÉE

El Sistema Opéra Méditerranée is an innovative version of the Venezuelan model. Our mission is to provide access to music and artistic creation to children and young people from underprivileged social backgrounds through the simplest and most universal means: singing.
The approach of El Sistema Opéra Méditerranée consists of integrating children into the practice of opera from the outset. The operas are composed especially for children by Sergio Monterisi and Magali Thomas. They are involved in all stages of production of the show: singing, dramatic action, dancing, costume design, lights and new technologies.
The creations are always centered on the themes of integration and diversity, thus mixing the artistic purpose with that of education and training in the values of citizenship.

SOCIAL AND ARTISTIC OBJECTIVE
Through singing, theater and opera initiation workshops, held by the professional artists of the artistic team, the children involved have the chance to be trained throughout the year in vocal technique. theater and opera. They can also discover all the professions of opera, through meetings with committed professionals, thus having the opportunity to rub shoulders with the composer and conductor, the musicians, the director, the costume designers and the technicians and to observe them in the practice of their profession.
